Rougham Sunflowers Breaks Records with Stunning Weekend Opening
Rougham Sunflowers, a popular seasonal attraction, had a record-breaking opening weekend as visitors flocked to witness thousands of beautiful sunflowers. Now in its third year, Rougham Sunflowers saw record numbers of visitors as its gates opened to the public on Friday.
Evolved from a modest sunflower field and refreshment spot in its first year, Rougham Sunflowers has become a sought-after family destination offering more than just picturesque blooms. Visitors were delighted to partake in various activities such as sunflower picking (with secateurs available for hire), bug hunting, swinging on sunflower swings, playing in giant sandpits, getting face painting, exploring the bale pyramid, and enjoying refreshments from the famous Folk About Café. Additionally, ice cream, picnic tables, and ample photo opportunities were available for visitors to enjoy.
Sales on Friday were an impressive 60 percent higher compared to last year and experienced a 100 percent surge on Saturday. Amie Deane, event coordinator, expressed her joy saying, “It is going really well, the field has been filled with visitors from all over.” She further added, “It’s wonderful to see smiles on so many faces and children playing freely. We aim to make it a really stress-free day where there is something for everyone. It’s lovely to see people smiling with arms full of bright yellow sunflowers.”
The attraction plans to remain open for another two to three weeks, giving more people a chance to experience its wonders. In addition to the two hectares of sunflowers, Rougham Sunflowers also features a wildflower bed where pre-cut bunches are available for sale.
Rougham Sunflowers greets visitors daily from 9am to 5pm, offering free admission and parking. Sunflowers can be purchased at a price of £2 per stem.
