The English Civil War at Stonham Barns

Muskets at the Ready! Battle scenes and camp life at Stonham Barns Park.

The English Civil War Show will look back in time to bring the past to life.  The show will be showcasing the conflict fought between King Charles I and Parliament during the 1600s. The human cost of the war was devastating seeing brothers fighting brothers – Round Heads vs Royalists. At the centre of the battles were disagreements about religion and discontent over the King’s use of power.

Explains Stonham Barns Park Events Manager Fraser Carson, ‘This historical event will feature the highlights of the English Civil War and tell the story of how these events shaped our country into what it is today – a country where monarchs would never again be supreme in British politics.’

Visitors will be able to walk around the showground and see, hear, and feel the history of the time from the encampments where re-enactors will be ready to fight to the death for their ideals!  This brand-new event from Stonham Barns Park will focus on the arms and armour of the time as well as the crafts and skills of everyday people from the period.

There will be the opportunity to see the thrilling battles and hear the roar of muskets and the various solder’s groups clashing.

Various social and cultural activities from this period in history will be featured during the event in ‘Have a Go’ sessions as experts will be on hand to instruct visitors on the different crafts and skills of the times.

A range of food and drink outlets will be available on the showground with outdoor and indoor seating. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads.

Tickets for the event are £10 per adult.   For further information visit or call 01449 711 111.
